And we succumb again to our penchant for tweaking every basic recipe. This time we wanted to take a healthy turn on one of our most favourite cocktails - Mojito - by infusing it with green tea.
We wondered if the healthy promises made by green tea aficionados outshine the intoxicating effects of a mean Mojito. After having two of these refreshing concoctions, we knew we had created a new favourite. Hic!
Ingredients (For 2 glasses)
White rum - 120ml
Caster sugar - 4 tsp
Mint leaves - 15-20
Green tea bags - 1
Lemon - 1
Lots of ice
Method
1. Prepare the green tea: Take 150 ml water at room temperature and place the green tea bag(s) without dipping back and forth much. Put the container with the tea bag in the fridge for about 45-60 minutes. (This method ensures that you only get the sweet flavour of green tea and not the bitterness)
2. Take half of the sugar and mint leaves in each of the serving glasses. Add the lemon quarters.
3. Muddle the mixture using a cocktail muddler (wooden preferably), and add the green tea mix and alcohol (60ml each).
4. Top with ice and serve with a straw
