Roots - Cafe in the Park, Gurgaon

There really aren't too many open-air places in Delhi NCR. Not surprising, given the kind of weather that we see here. However, there are a few days in the beginning and offset of winters that deserve an outdoor seating. What better if it could be done sipping hot masala chai and eating comfort food like Indian snacks, pastas, etc.

Roots, at a nondescript location in Gurgaon is one such place. It is built in a renewable energy park and claims to use similar sources for cooking. We went here on a lovely Friday evening and thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere. Overall Rating: 4/5

Why we might go again?
There really are not many places like this around. If you want something outdoor in good weather with above average food, this can be a great option, especially if you are in and around Gurgaon. We ordered the masala chai, poha and bombay egg bhurji. The poha was extremely light served with a nice green chutney. The egg bhurji was what would really bring us back. It was creamy, flavourful and just the perfect accompaniment of our chai.

Why we might not go again?
There is no room for haste here. You are supposed to be there to relax and enjoy conversation in a great environment. This is not a place to catch a quick bite. Also, it gets packed pretty quickly if the weather is good so expect some waiting time here.

Final word
If you are in the neighbourhood, and the weather is pleasant, drop by for some egg bhurji and masal chai. Simple and wonderful! Cost for 2 would be around Rs 300
