Mirchi ka Salan

Some things just have to be paired up together ! Such is the case with Hyderabadi Biryani and Mirchi ka Salan. Here's the recipe. Was tricky to perfect it but N finally got it right!

Ingredients
1/2 cup peanuts
1 tbsp seasame seeds
1 tbsp grated coconut
2 tbsp ginger garlic
2 sukhi lal mirch
4-5 methi seeds
3-4 green chillies - slit from centre
1 medium onion - finely chopped
10-15 leaves of curry leaves
1/2 cup tamarind water
1/2 tsp jaggery or sugar
1/2 cumin
2 tsp oil
Salt
2 cups Water

Method
1. In a wok, dry roast peanuts, sesame seeds, coconut, methi Dana, ginger, garlic and lal mirch and then on cooling down, grind this into thick paste. You may add little water if required

2. In a pan, heat oil and let cumin crackle. Add curry leaves and then sauté onion golden brown

3. Now transfer masala paste to pan and let it cook for 4-5 mins 

4. Add tamarind water, sugar, salt, water and let it cook on slow for 20-30 mins

5. In a tadka pan, fry green chillies in little oil and add to salan and enjoy with biryani
