Caipirinha

Been a long time since we shared a cocktail recipe. Not that we haven't been making some at home, but we haven't really made something that you don't find in regular bars/pubs - you know, basic margaritas, martinis, and the cosmos and screwdrivers. This one was a bit special!

For one, we tried a whole new liqour - Cachaca, and second it tasted nothing like anything we had had before. Cachaca is a Brazilian liqour which tastes somewhat like a mix of white rum and tequila. It is unique, clear, and a perfect replacement for plain old white rum. We loved it! Here goes the super simple recipe.

Ingredients

For 1 serving:
1 lemon (cut into mid sized wedges)
60ml Cachaca
1Tbsp brown sugar (really gives it a different taste than normal sugar)
Approx. 150ml Soda (a traditional recipe won't use this but we don't like our drinks with too much ice)

Method

In a flat bottom glass, muddle the sugar into the lemon wedges. With the wedges at the bottom, pour some ice cubes and top with the Cachaca and Soda. The more ice you would use, the less Soda you may need to fill up the glass. Serve with a straw.

Enjoy! We did. Hic!
